The Cow Horn Chair is a compact dining chair that showcases Hans J. Wegner’s mastery of wood and form.
Designed in 1952 by Hans J. Wegner, the pp505 Cow Horn Chair is one of his smallest yet most expressive works. Created shortly after the iconic Round Chair, it carries forward Wegner’s sculptural philosophy while being purposefully scaled to fit neatly under a dining table. The compact chair celebrates the beauty of solid wood craftsmanship, with back and armrests carved from two substantial pieces of wood joined at the centre. Rather than concealing the joint, Wegner highlighted it as a decorative feature, often using contrasting wood tones to emphasise the construction. This honest expression of structure became a defining hallmark of Wegner’s design legacy.
