Not just any sofa, but a Børge Mogensen BM2213. Crafted, calm, quietly confident. My husband took me to see it, and I still remember running my hands along its wood frame, the leather still rich and warm decades after it was made. Something clicked. This was furniture that made sense. Honest. Considered. It aged with grace and presence. It was not asking for attention because it had nothing to prove.
That moment changed everything.
I realised I did not want this only for myself. I wanted this for others who valued substance over spectacle. Too much furniture today is rushed and overstyled, designed to impress briefly and disappear quickly. I wanted furniture that did more. Pieces that do not merely occupy space, but hold it together. In 2006, I founded Danish Design Co to bring something different to Singapore. Timeless designs from carefully curated brands, crafted with intention and built for decades rather than fleeting trends. At the time, much of what was available looked good at first glance but failed with time. Homes deserved better.
