Genbo in Carlsberg Byen brings together the eclectic spirit of Copenhagen’s old and new architecture, blending raw steel, exposed brick, and accents of red and green. To shape this warm and engaging environment, restaurateur Adam Aaman and design studio All That Matters centered the space around Rainer Daumiller’s 1970s pine armchair, a bold statement of Danish craft that pairs naturally with Genbo’s industrial surroundings.
Aaman’s team spent a year sourcing recycled vintage Daumiller Armchairs across auction houses and retro outlets. Their sculpted pine form, expressive simplicity, and effortlessly comfortable shape make them an ideal fit for a venue that shifts from breakfast calm to evening buzz. The solid wood’s patina adds depth and character, reinforcing the restaurant’s commitment to honest materials and a welcoming, tactile dining experience.
On the restaurant floor, the chairs sit alongside hefty pine tables, raw steel, concrete, greenery, and touches of red. This interplay creates unity through contrasts, where warm pine softens the industrial edges and evokes a distinctly Danish sense of hygge. The Daumiller Armchair becomes the anchor of the interior, tying together sustainability, craft heritage, and a cozy ambience that works throughout the day.
