Danish architect Verner Panton is an iconic 20th century inspiration to many architects and designers in the area of textiles, furniture and interior décor. Having graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Panton proceeded to work at Arne Jacobsen’s design studio for two years before deciding to work independently. His lively use of colours in his designs stem from a personal belief that people feel better and sit more comfortably when they are seated on furniture pieces in colours they like.
His most notable work came from his collaborations with the brand Montana.
Peter J. Lassen relaunched Panton’s wire shelving system in 1998 and the Panton range has now expanded to lounge chairs and dining chairs. Verner Panton’s most recent work for Montana is the Bachelor Chair released in 2013.
