Eilersen Product Care for Fabric Furniture - Danish Design Singapore

Fabric CARE

Your furniture textiles are either made of natural fibres, synthetic fibres, or a mix of both. Weaving methods futher the diversity of your textiles, resulting in great diversity in the colouration, dirt and shrinkage resistance and flammability of your furniture.

General Cleaning: Fabrics should be vacuum cleaned at least once a week. Use the brush mouthpiece of the vacuum, at a reduced suction, to gently run through the fabrics. Avoid placing your fabric furniture in direct sunlight to preserve the colours and to prevent uneven shading.

Thorough Cleaning: Fabrics should be chemically dry-cleaned, in accordance to the cleaning symbol on the tags.

Leather care

Leather is a natural material, and therefore no one leather furniture is truly alike to another. Leathers are marked by the life events that affects the animal in its lifetime – such as aging, fights, insect bites etc. Leather is undemanding in care, but sensitive to all aggressive care products.

Aniline Leather

Aniline Leather is the closest one can get to raw natural hide; it is truly exclusive and soft while being comfortable. In order to keep Aniline Leather as close as possible to the natural hide state, there is no protectant product for it, making it vulnerable to liquids, grease and stains. Aniline Leather will overtime reflect how the furniture has been used, and develop its own unique and beautiful patina.

Aniline Nubuck Leather

Aniline Nubuck is an Aniline Hide that underwent a special tanning process to get its distinctive and characteristic look. Eilersen’s Aniline Nubuck Leather is lightly polished, topped with a special oil to create its unique visual properties. In order to keep Aniline Nubuck Leather as close as possible to the natural hide state, there is no protectant product for it, making it vulnerable to liquids, grease and stains. Aniline Nubuck Leather will overtime reflect how the furniture has been used, and develop its own unique and beautiful patina.

Semi Aniline Leather

Unlike Pure Aniline Leather, Semi Aniline Leather underwent a light surface treatment, making it more resistant to liquids, grease and stains. Hence, Semi Aniline Leather has fewer natural markings like scars, insect bites etc, while still retaining comfortable properties and a hide’s natural look.

Corrected Leather Leather

Corrected Leather has underwent a thicker surface treatment, making it more durable and practical for day-to-day or heavy usage. While Corrected Leather is not as soft and comfortable as Aniline Leather, it is more homogeneous in appearance.

General Cleaning & Maintenance for Leather

Avoid placing the leather furniture in direct sunlight or heat sources. Carefully and gently vacuum the leather surface at reduced suction with the correct mouthpiece, from time to time.

  • Dust – Remove with vacuum cleaner, at a reduced suction, or a soft cotton cloth.
  • Dried Dirt – Gently rough the dried dirt with a soft polish brush, followed by careful vacuuming at a reduced suction.
  • Food & Oil – Remove immediately with dry cloth, or through gentle roughing. Remaining stains will be absorbed by leather, depending on the type of food and oil.
  • Fluids – Soak immediately with a blotting paper, or a dry cloth. Let the leather surface dry up and gently rough with a soft polish brush.
  • Stain – Apply Natural Soap Flake Solution with soft and clean cotton cloth, and leave to dry. Afterwards, wipe up the leather surface with a new clean cotton cloth.

Natural Soap Flake Solution:

  • It is important to use Natural Soap Flakes, and not Artificially-produced Soap Flakes.
  • Mix Natural Soap Flakes with lukewarm water in solution of 1:40, and stir the mixture together till it foams.
  • Apply the Natural Soap Flake Solution with a soft clean cotton cloth. Never pour the soap solution directly onto the leather surface.
  • The entire leather surface should be covered to prevent blotches and patchiness.
  • Let the leather surface dry up
  • Wipe off the leather surface with a new clean cotton cloth.
