Product Care for Lacquered MDF and Veneer Surfaces

 

Care and Maintenance for Lacquered MDF and Veneer

 

MDF and veneer furniture such as the 12 mm Montana Shelving System, Montana Free, Montana Mini and Montana Bathroom with a lacquer, you may clean the furniture with a clean, dry cloth OR with a wrung cloth that has been rinsed with clean water, followed by a dry cloth.

 

• Stains may be removed with few drops of concentrated detergent; then wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth. For stains that do not wash off, wipe with a wrung cloth in clean water with added liquid detergent (max. 1 teaspoon to 1 litre of water). Immediately wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth. It is best to test on an inconspicuous part first, as some products may damage the lacquer. A microfibre cloth can be a good alternative to detergents.
• Immediately wipe up spilled liquids, as certain chemicals such as, ink and strongly coloured fruit juice may cause discolouration, as the colour pigments bind on to the surface. Never use alcohol (or any other solvents), steel wool, scouring power, similar agents with abrasives, or cleaners that leave a film on the surface, such as brown soft soap.
• Place mats under interior objects to prevent scratches. Note that rubber pads attached on interior objects often contain a softening agent that can bond with and damage the surface lacquer after prolonged contact.
• Oiled objects must not be placed directly on or in the module, as the oil can bond with the material and damage the lacquer.

Clean surfaces made of glass with a clean, dry cloth OR with a wrung cloth that has been rinsed with clean water, followed by a dry cloth. A microfibre cloth can be a good alternative.

 

Detergents with spray function for glass cleaning can also be used, follow the product’s instructions and be careful only to spray on the glass. Do not use acid-based detergents for glass or abrasives as this will scratch the glass.

Marble is a natural material, which has been formed of lime that has been placed under pressure at a certain temperature; this makes each marble top plate absolutely unique.

 

Marble must be treated in order to prevent grease and dirt from penetrating it. Regular use of soap flakes helps saturate the tabletop. This can be done by using an impregnating agent. Soap flakes can be used: dissolve 2-3 tablespoons of soap flakes in 1 litre of hot water, then apply the foam to the top plate and let soak in for 5 minutes keep this surface moist and make sure it doesn’t dry out. Then wipe the top plate with a clean, damp cloth.

Marble does not tolerate acid or other aggressive and acid cleaners, including vinegar and lemon juice. If you spill any acid on the top plate, wash it immediately.

Care and Maintenance for Textiles

 

• To remove loose dirt, use a brush and if necessary, mild soap and lukewarm water on a cloth.
• Upholstery is washable on a mild 30°C wash. Do not use softener. Please note that washing the upholstery may reduce the fabric’s original resistance to stains.
• Remove stains by dabbing a clean cloth wrung in lukewarm water on the stained area. If necessary, add a neutral detergent to the water. Do not rub the stain. Afterwards, dab the area with a dry cloth.
• Regarding the textile panels for the Montana Free shelving system, we recommend vacuuming the textile panels regularly.

 

 

 

Product Care for Steel Surfaces

 

Stainless Steel Care and Maintenance Information

 

1. You may wash the Pantonova furniture with diluted detergent using a brush, followed by rinsing the chair in clean water. Wipe with a cloth or air dry.
2. Regularly wipe the stainless-steel frame with oil to prevent rust. Apply the oil with a cloth and wipe with a dry clean cloth. The oil will leave a thin protective film, which preserves the steel for as long as possible.

 

 

Chrome and Lacquered Steel Care and Maintenance Information

 

Clean e.g. Panton Wire, in chrome or lacquer with a wrung cloth that has been rinsed with clean lukewarm water or in diluted detergent.

Never apply oil on chrome and lacquered frames.

 

 

 

Product Care for Polyurethane Cord and Paper String Surfaces

 

The polyurethane cord and paper string on the Panton One chair require little to no maintenance. The paper string develops an attractive natural patina over time. The material is eco-friendly, biodegradable and can be incinerated.

 

Paper string is a natural material, please be aware that it will change as you use the chair. The fibres in the Paper chair will extend over the years, so it will not remain absolutely tight to the frame. For that reason, a new chair and a used one will never look the same.mOverlaps and possibly little knots are common with in surface of the paper string as this is where the fibres were extended during the string production.

 

Montana works with two colours – natural (un-bleached) or black, which is dyed. The paper string has been treated with a thin layer of wax to help prevent staining and to make cleaning the material easier. Textile dyes from non-colourfast clothing, e.g. denim, may rub off on the natural-colour paper string and the coloured cords. Discolouration of the paper string may also occur if strong coloured liquids are spilled on it, e.g. red wine or fruit juice.

 

Care and Maintenance for Polyurethane Cord and Paper String on Panton One

 

• In the event of a spillage: Remove as much of the liquid as possible with a thoroughly wrung-out, soft cloth. Avoid rubbing the liquid further into the paper string; instead, gently dab the affected area. Never use detergent on the braid; instead, use a neutral, colourless soapy solution. Freshen up the seat by wiping it with a thoroughly wrung-out cloth dipped in a neutral, colourless soapy solution. It is advisable not to do this too often, as it can excessively wear the paper string. Paper string is a naturally cool, comfortable and resistant material, designed to last for years.
• The polyurethane cord has a core of nylon. The seat and back should be vacuumed regularly using a soft brush or wiped with a lint-free cloth, wrung firmly in lukewarm water, with added detergent if necessary. Never use oil on the plaited cords. Do not use chemicals or strong detergents on the chair.
• Placing the item in direct sunlight may result in the polyurethane cords to fade.

 

 

 

 

Product Care for Massive Wood Surfaces

 

Care and Maintenance for Massive Wood Surfaces (Larger surface areas such as tables)

 

• Apply white pigmented hardening oil for tabletops 3-4 times a year or as needed.
• The wood should be clean and dry before oiling. Evenly spread the oil with a lint-free cloth and leave for 3-5 minutes.
• Wipe off all excessive oil with a dry lint-free cloth. Polish by wiping it an extra time with a clean, dry cloth.
• For daily maintenance, we recommend using a cloth wrung out in water.

• Daily cleaning of tables should be done with a clean cloth wrung in lukewarm water.
• Do not use washing-up liquid or regular detergents, as these will dry out linoleum.
• Apply linoleum care products 3-4 times a year as needed.
• Linoleum care products can be purchased at Montana Furniture A/S or in furniture shops.

• Clean daily with a clean cloth wrung in lukewarm water and then immediately wiped dry with a clean, dry cloth.
• For a more in-depth cleaning use an all-round detergent (1-2 drops per 1 litre of water). Dry off with a clean, damp cloth to remove all soap and finish off with a clean, dry cloth.
• Do not use washing-up liquid, as this can leave a film on the surface, nor scouring powder and nylon sponges, as these often will make the surface mat or scratch the laminate. Specific laminate cleaning products can be purchased at Montana Furniture A/S or in furniture shops.
