Poul M Volther

DENMARK (1923-2001)

Danish architect and designer Poul M. Volther originally trained as a cabinetmaker but later attended the School of Arts and Crafts. He held firm roots to Scandinavian functionalism and agreed with the modernist motto where organic design delved from the form that follows function.

His most notable Corona Chair for Erik Jørgensen has indelibly left an impact on both Danish and International design. Having taught in the Danish Design School, Volther influenced many new designers with his amazing designer sensibility and his unwavering standards for quality and practicality.
